Waukegan SportsPark Opening Delayed
All was well and the Waukegan Park District’s new SportsPark on Green Bay Road was on schedule to be completed and open by the end of this summer.  Unfortunately, due to the strike by the Laborers and Operators Unions, the project has been delayed. A spring opening date is anticipated and will be announced early in 2011. Click here to read more.

Parents and children explore SUMMER H*E*A*T  (history, environment, arts and tales). It takes place on Mondays in Bowen Park’s Outdoor Amphitheater, June 21- August 9, at  11am. Pack a lunch, play in the park and have some hands on fun at SUMMER H*E*A*T.

Movies in the Park Grab your lawn chair and blanket and enjoy the monthly Movies in the Park series on Bowen Park’s lawn. Movies will appeal to the whole family and include a film from the International Latino Film Festival. Show time begins at dusk.  Dates and movies are as follows: July 22, “Cuestion de Principilos” (A Matter of Principles) from Argentina, and August 12, “The Blind Side.” Click here for the flyer.

Summer Shows for Young Audiences Summer Shows for Young Audiences will be presented at the Dr. Lynn Schornick Theatre at the Jack Benny Center for the Arts. Family shows are at 10am. Puss in Boots is Saturday, July 31. For more information click here.

Bowen Blues (B²) The Free monthly blues concerts invite young and old to relax at Bowen Park’s Morrison Shelter and enjoy the music. Concerts are Wednesday evenings at 7pm on August 4. Click here for the flyer.

The Great Park Search (G.P.S.) is underway!  Have you entered this great contest yet?
